To begin, I wish to acknowledge the traditional owners of country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. I pay my respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present.

At the time of setting up this site, it was World Alzheimer’s Month 2015, #WAM 2015, or as many of us living with this or that type of dementia like to call it, World Dementia Month or Dementia Awareness Month as it is called in Australia where I live.

My goal with this new site is to share evidence based research, anecdotal research, ideas and other information about the very real possibility that a diagnosis of dementia does not need to be the immediate ‘pathway to aged care and death’ as is experienced by so many currently.

The term Prescribed Disengagement™, which I trademarked some time ago, needs some academic rigour for it to be taken seriously, and I am pleased to announce this in progress.

Signing up to this site means you will receive the link to my daily blog straight into your email inboxI will NEVER share or sell your information.

Signing up to this site, also means I cannot and will not use your details to sign you up to any other site I may manage or own. That is unlawful as well as unethical.

Please note: your entries may be modified, and any inappropriate entries will be deleted. The primary purpose of my blog is to recall my thoughts and activities, but I want it to remain informative, inspired, and above all, honourable. Finally, I want it to reach out to you. I will always change any words that are offensive to others, especially those disrespectful to people with dementia.

  1. Are you interested in hearing a daughter’s talk regarding seeing her Mother deteriorating with dementia and how it affects the lives of all who love her ? The daughter works in a managerial position with aged care in Queensland Australia. A follow on from your radio interview. Regards Margaret

  2. So glad to find this. I am a holistic physician who recently decided to focus on cognitive decline. Thank you for your years of dedicated work. I look forward to reading what comes next.

    1. It’s great to hear from you here, and about being a holistic Physician. Apologies though, I’m not very active here. Even my main website is less active, but you might find some interesting information there as well. Where ate you based?
